| London Bombings - Further Suffering

The Aftermath
So yes, I am angry, bloody wild in fact, sickened.
To see what scumbags will do to defenceless people in the streets
of a civilised nation. In the name of what? If you want to play
hardball, do it. Do it against the SAS you gutless excuses for...
face to face. You claim to have honour and you know nothing of the
word. You don't because you can't. You have to be cowards.
Yes, innocent people have died in Iraq, Afghanistan
and other places in the world, for centuries, but it was not the
deliberate intention of the professional soldier for that to occur.
Why am I bothering. Those who know and understand and believe in
what I am saying - well, they call that preaching to the converted,
don't they? For those who don't agree, there is no point because
they are fanatics who think they can win by such ways.
Campbell Live
Mister Campbell had a very interesting way of having
a go at those held responsible for national security, in this case,
for London. Those with such daily tasks are quite aware that one
does not use a missile, a jet fighter or a tank to deal with a bomb,
or a bomber. It has very little to do with money, and everything
to do with knowledge.
Blaming MI5 does not do anyone any good. Unless
you want video cameras and biometrics on every vehicle of public
transport, in everyone's home, unless you want a police state, then
you can not expect the Secret Service, or anyone else for that matter,
to be able to stop this kind of threat. It is up to every civilian
to be vigilant.
Such perpetrators can be embedded in a local community
for months if not years at a time. Brief cases, cell phones, all
sorts of things can be left on buses and trains and without the
watchful eyes of an everyday person, those devices will not be seen.
And think about those millions of people with on thing on their
mind - getting to work, their next meeting, trouble with the boss...
no, it is impossible to track every person, every object, much less
an agenda.
Did we have a party for the MI5, the police, every
time a terrorist cell was caught in the act before they were able
to kill anyone? No. No we did not. We went on with our lives as
if nothing had happened and took their successes for granted. So
don't complain when these hard worked people with burdens on their
shoulders you may never comprehend are not able to forewarn the
public. Any who do complain would soon shut up if they knew just
how many times their lives had been saved by perfect strangers,
and they'll never know it for the very reasons that keep them safe.
Personally, my hat (if I wore one) goes off to all
branches of the security services for the way they have handled
this latest series of bombings, and how they have prevented so many
possible situations up until now. In fact, how many have been prevented
simply because would be attackers have been unwilling to go forward
with their plans because of the competence of those security professionals
in place.
Realities
Those who know war know that missiles, planes, tanks
etc are not the answer to this kind of terror. So why to the media
keep talking in this language as if those who do the fighting think
it is? Get off your high horses and be thankful you even have a
military in place with people willing to actually risk their lives
directly so that you can, relatively speaking, live safe and prosperous
lives.
Terrorism is a fact of life. It is not one that
will go away. Some countries have been living with it for decades.
The Mayor of London said exactly what needed to
be said but whether or not all people will understand this for what
it is is another matter. It was an indiscriminate attack on working
people, common people, of all races, creeds, colours and faiths.
This is a global phenomenon, and not one where you can single out
any potential target. Only that it will most certainly be innocent,
and it will be a soft target, which means both in a physical sense
and in the sense of security.
These killers have no honour, they have no mana,
they are not warriors and they certainly don't understand courage.
When a soldier accidentally kills a civilian in war, that is what
it is. When a terrorist walks on a bus and blows themselves up,
that is a deliberate act of mass murder. That is what it is.
The Rainbow Warrior
Remember this; 10 July 1985. Twenty years ago yesterday...
the Rainbow Warrior bombing, perpetrated by agents of the French
GGSE, military intelligence. New Zealand is not free from the threat
of terrorism. And this was state sponsored terrorism. Instigated
by a nation where New Zealanders bleed and died for their freedom.
French leadership need not stand against terrorism
until they can appease these wrongs. |
